Military Veteran Acquires The College of Nail Design and Bella Dea Day Spa

First time business owner, Barbara Myers, has purchased two well-established businesses in Omaha’s Rockbrook area– The College of Nail Design and Bella Dea Day Spa.  New to owning her own business, Myers is no stranger to hard work.  After 14 years in the military, Myers know that discipline and focus are keys to success.

Established in May 2004, The College of Nail Design is the only accredited nail school in the area, drawing students from outside the state of Nebraska for instruction and continuing education.  The Seller, a practicing nail technician for over 20 years, has been a Nail Technology Instructor for 19 years and will continue in that role as part of the business transition.

Myers herself attended and taught at a cosmetology school, so purchasing Bella Dea Day Spa fulfilled a long-held goal.  Offering a full range of spa and salon services to a loyal client base, the business has a solid foundation, but also the ability to grow.   The plan is to “take Bella Dea to the next level by incorporating more focus on marketing and updating daily operations with the help of technology.  The staff is excited for this change.”

Finding the right businesses to purchase was a big decision.  Once that was accomplished, the next step was to find financing.  Several banks denied her loan applications; but then she found the Nebraska Enterprise Fund.  Understanding the importance of small and micro business development, lending to Myers, a first-time small business owner, fit squarely within their programs.

Myers plans to purchase another business in the future.  She will draw on the resources of the trusted advisors she has gained as part of her first acquisition.  Being a small business owner while attending school and working full-time takes a lot of passion, and Myers has plenty of it.

The transfer of ownership took place in the third quarter of 2016 at The Firm Business Brokerage in Omaha.
